Why I Took a Break from Substack

I lost the plot..

I started writing Buried By Ads because I have thoughts and ideas about advertising and media that nobody in my personal life wants to listen to.

I got ahead of myself.

I wanted to grow.

Substack makes growth look easy

Especially when everyone talking about Substack is growing.

I got a little bit of traction.

That led me to write some stupid notes and even some articles I’m not as proud of.

I started trying to write what I thought people wanted to read.

I tried to force myself into a format and schedule that defeated the entire purpose of Buried By Ads.

Substack is just a medium to hold writing

It’s not about growth, monetization, or leveraging an audience.

Buried By Ads is about writing what I think is interesting.

I turned off paid subscriptions.

I’m just going to write about whatever I want, which is what I should have always been doing.
